I know, I know, I’m not a fan of the whole Jesus-hugging-Jesus-and-I-have-nothing-to-lose-but-a-lifetime-of-painful-pain. I guess I just don’t like to have my friends and loved ones turn into a pile of Jesus-stuff.
Well I guess it’s cool that in the end, Jesus-hugging is no longer the most popular religious idea.
So I guess it’s time to give up on Jesus hug and embrace the idea of Jesus-hugging.
Yeah, I dont like it either. You can hug someone for free! But the fact is Christians are so afraid of being judged that they will hug someone for free, and if that someone is a gay man, they will hug him just so he doesn’t get to judge them.
Jesus-hugging is getting kind of old, don’t you think? Even Jesus is trying to make a break with the huggable Jesus-givers of the world. He’s even going to try to start a new religion that doesn’t involve people hugging and hugging people. But this time he’s going to be a guy with a beard and a hat who has an idea about the power of forgiveness.
To be fair, this is just one of those days when it is really easy to get caught up in the huggable Jesus-givers’ new religion. They’ve got a pretty great video on YouTube that shows how the group has been holding their hands out in the air and saying, “I forgive everyone I hug today, but only you, my Jesus-giver, can forgive me.
While the video does show some people being hugged, it also shows a guy who has been kneeling and saying, I forgive you. I am forgiven. I forgive you. I forgive you. The video ends with someone saying, but if you can’t forgive me, you should know that you will die, and that’s a good thing.
As a person who has been asked that question a couple of times we might know just how accurate that video is. For those of us who are more or less religious, the idea of forgiveness is a powerful one. When someone forgives you, you know that they are not putting themselves above you. They are not thinking about you as some sort of lesser person. When someone forgives you, you know that they are not thinking about you as some sort of lesser person.
In his video, Colt Vahn explains that he is a Visionary. He then calls out to Jesus and asks him to forgive him, which is a pretty good example of how we can use the concept of forgiveness to our advantage. If we could understand forgiveness and forgive others as well as we do, then they would be more likely to forgive us.
Jesus’ response was one of the most inspiring videos I’ve ever watched and I’ve been to numerous funerals where the grieving person is still clutching to Jesus’ presence. It’s not often that the preacher does this, but it’s a good reminder that Jesus was able to forgive in a way we can do.
