When you allow someone to manipulate you, you’re putting them in a position of power over you. The moment you trust someone, you lose the ability to trust them. We trust people with our money, our food, our children, our jobs, our homes, and our lives.
The problem is, as we all know, when we trust someone we can lose their trust. One of the most common pitfalls in life is trusting someone too much. Let’s look at the case of the recent $1.6B failure of the $4.2B Initial Public Offering. Here’s what happened: the investors trusted the guy who was going to pay them $10B, but when he went broke, the company sent him a check for $5B.
This isn’t a case of people trusting the wrong person. This is a case of people mistrusting their own money. The investors didn’t buy it because they trusted the guy. They trusted the guy because they knew he had a lot of money to burn.
